Welcome

Hello!!! Thanks for visiting our blog. We are Troy & Angie. We adopted our son, Riley, from Korea.
I enjoyed reading other people's blogs so much that I thought I would do one of my own. I know many of you that are in the adoption process will mostly want to see our adoption timeline. I always loved to know how other's timelines were going. I hope I can offer those who read information that is helpful while also keeping my friends and family informed!!

Details!!!

Hey everyone!!! Well, I'm still on cloud nine!!!!! I don't expect to come down anytime soon!!! Isn't our son so-oooooooo cute. I just sit and stare at those big brown eyes. Also, we finally decided on a name-- Riley Chiogang Stinson. We are keeping is given Korean name as his middle name.

I'm am sure that I have talked to many of you about the details of my referral day, but there are many others that read this blog too. Well.......... I'll start with the night before. Last Wednesday night, I was doing my typical internet searching that I do every single night, reading all the adoption forums that I am on and reading other people's blogs. On one forum, there had been four people that received referrals for baby girls. I was thinking how much I wanted a referral!!! I also told Troy about all the referrals and he said "What about us?". I had been praying basically every morning that a referral would come soon for us.

So.... I was at work on Thursday and was just about to go in and see my first patient (for those of you that don't know, I am a Nurse Practitioner). My nurse answered the phone about 1 pm and said I had a call from Julie (the name of my social worker). Well, I thought I would pass out!!!! Many of the details from here on out are quite sketchy because I think I must have been low on oxygen or something :). I turned around to answer the phone I am remember stopping for a minute and shaking my hands. I remember that when I answered, Julie asked me if it was a good time. LIKE I WAS GOING TO SAY NO!! She said we had a referral for a baby boy, and I immediately started crying like a baby. I didn't hear much else except that his birthday was May 22nd and that is was one of the "cleanest" referrals she had received, meaning he was very healthy. Later, I found the post-it note that I had written on while I was talking to her and the only things it said was "May 22, boy, clean". How funny that seemed. At least I didn't get a dirty baby!!!!

Anyway, we agreed on a time to meet that night so we could pick up his pictures and information. I then immediately called Troy. I was crying so hard that he couldn't understand me and thought that something was wrong and that I had a wreck or something. After I finally got it through to him, I think he just said "Really, really". After that, I have no recollection of the rest of our converstion. I then called my mom, my friend Angie, and texted my sister-n-law. Of course all the girls in the office had figured it out and most were crying too!!! Dr. Cook (my boss) said when he came out of his patient's room, he thought we had a hostage situation or something because everyone was crying!!

After I floated through the rest of the afternoon, trying to see patients, me, Troy, and my mom headed to Danville to meet with Julie. I think that was the longest drive ever!!!!!!! We had about 3 hours to spare so we stopped and shopped at JCPenny and Peebles. Actually, that was the first baby things I had ever purchased. I had decided not to buy anything until we received a referral. We bought some clothes and toys.

After we finally made it to Julie's, it was such as experience to see Riley's sweet face. Troy told me later he was almost afraid to look at the picture for some reason. I basically heard nothing that Julie said that night because I was just looking at those big brown eyes!!!!!! After we left, we ended up going to Walgreens to copy the pictures so we could all have some the next day. By this time it was after 11pm and we were all exhausted. It was probably around midnight by the time we went to bed. Of course, I put his picture on my nightstand that night. My mom however, who spent the night with us, slept hugging his picture. By the way, this is her first grandchild.

Well, that is a not so quick run down of our referral day. I will probably have more pictures to post of Riley and some other pictures as well, but I think I may do that tomorrow. I have typed so much my hands are really hurting!!!

Thanks so much for all the comments on these posts. I am going to try and print them off to put in a scrapbook!!!

More later,
Angie (Riley's Mom)

This story makes me cry! It is so beautiful!! You and Troy are going to be awesome parents.

Angie - I've known you since we were 5 years old and there is no doubt in my mind you are meant to be a mother. You took such good care of me, I knew you'd be one of the best!

Riley - Your are going to love it here! So many people love you already and we can't wait to meet you.

God, please take good care of Riley until he's united with his Mommy and Daddy. Please allow the travel date to come before the typical 3 or 4 months. God, thank you for this miracle. Praise You for this blessing of family!
